Literature for Life’s 3rd Annual Black White & Read All Over

A special thank you to all those who attended and supported Literature for Life’s 3rd Annual Black White & Read All Over.

On October 26, 2011, guests gathered at the RBC Plaza to celebrate 11 years of Literature for Life Reading Circle programming and the unleashing of intellectual potential.

Guests were greeted with a with a cocktail reception complete with an open bar and a preview of the Literature for Life documentary: Womens Words, directed by Ania Piszczkiewicz.

A warm, welcoming, introduction was provided by the event’s host, award-winning poet, actress and broadcaster, Jemeni, who will introduced the evening’s Honorary Chair, veteran broadcaster, Valerie Pringle who shared the importance of Literature for Life’s programming.

A keynote address The Power of Narrative: Telling the Story of David was provided by human rights and equity lawyer, Julian Falconer.

Literature for Life Ambassador, Jacqueline Graham, provided a testimonial, and was followed by a powerful spoken- word poetry piece by Literature for Life Ambassador Roots Kizzy.

Founding Executive Director, Jo Altilia shared her vision and mission in unleashing intellectual potential within young mothers, one book at a time, while honoring the contributions of our most generous donors.

Attendees participated in a silent auction and journeyed through the Literature for Life gallery:
A photo presentation of the last 11 years of Literature for Life’s programming,  and the Women’s Words Reading Circle bibliography.

Stay tuned, as we share the results of meeting our fundraising goal of $50,  000.
